The Drikung Kagyu Order was founded in 1179 by Kyobpa Jigten Sumgön. It is headed by the two Kyabgon Rinpoches, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chungtsang. While Chungtsang Rinpoche resides in Lhasa, Chetsang Rinpoche has established the Drikung Kagyu seat in exile in Dehra Dun, in the northeast of India.
The Great Shravasti Buddhist Cultural Assembly 2015 Opening Ceremony
At 10:00am His Holiness arrived at the gate to receive a warm welcome from Mr. K.T Gyaltsen, honorary secretary of the organising committee of the Great Shravasti Buddhist Cultural Assembly 2015.His Holiness offered a khatak and made a lamp offering at the thangka of Lord Buddha. Sri. Vikram Singh (IAS) MD, Mr. Haji Mohammed Ranzam (MLA), Sri. Gangnath Tripathi (SP), together with representatives from Sikkim, Bhutan, Nepal and Ladakh were also present. His Holiness and guests again performed the light offering ceremony, followed the Mangalacharan-sutra chanted by monks and nuns from the Drikung Kagyu Institute.

His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang made his second grand visit to Bhutan on 23rd September 2015 on the invitation of Her Majesty Royal Grand mother of Bhutan. Right after the arrival HH and entourage had a tea session with Her Majesty at the Dumranang Palace, Paro.
His Holiness and entourage traveled to Phubjikha on 24th and stayed one night as a rest and arrived Bumthang on September 26. Hotel Rinchenling hosted His Holiness and the attendents in Bumthang Jakar. On 27th September the Sumthrang Monastery with support from the Bumthang community organized a day Drikung Phowa chenmo initiation followed by a Machig Drupi Gyelmoi Tsedrup long life empowerment to the public at Jampa lhakhang.
Preceding the traditional Winter Teachings, as usual will be held at Jangchubling Monastery, Dehradun, India.
His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon will bestow the Great Monkey Year Teaching from 14th to 19th February 2016.

In August 2015, a tea party was held at Drikung Samtenling Nunnery. The occasion was to wish farewell to Ms. Trinlay Chodon, our former Secretary/Accountant who worked at the Nunnery for almost two years and half years. Two ladies applied for this post but they withdrew at the end, and we had no option but to open this post for the third candidate. Mr. Sonam Wangdu is a retired accountant from the Central Tibetan Administration, Dharamsala, who has now moved to Dekiling Tibetan Settlement, so we have a very experienced staff member in the office. We hope very much that a nun can take up this post in a couple of years under his training.

His Holiness The Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang with accompanying khenpos and lamas have completed a meaningful visit to Vietnam from 26 August to 7 September 2015, in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city . They are warmly welcomed by many Vietnamese Buddhist devotees and the Drikung Kagyu lineage’s followers.
His Holiness and the lamas had a busy and fruitful schedule with various Buddhism’s dharma teachings and visits in different pagodas in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city.
His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang arrived to Washington DC on the 21st of August, 2015 and was warmly received at the airport by Garchen Rinpoche and all Drikung Dharma Surya sangha.
On the auspicious morning of 23rd of August, H.H. the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang visited the new Drikung Dharma Surya temple and commenced the opening ceremony, along with Garchen Rinpoche, Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoche, and many other khenpos and lamas.
At the invitation of the Tibetan Association of Northern California (TANC), H.H. the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang arrived in San Francisco on August 14th, 2015, where he was welcomed at the airport by Bhumang Rinpoche, TANC president Kelsang Jungney, and other devotees.
On the 15th, His Holiness was received by an assembly of ordained and lay followers under the auspices of TANC. Following opening prayers, TANC offered His Holiness a mandala offering with supports of enlightened body, speech, and mind, to request that he turn the wheel of the Dharma.

Drong Ngur Jangchubling was extremely honored and overjoyed to have had the opportunity to host His Holiness Drikung Kyabgön Chestang Rinpoche, August 1st and 2nd during his Summer 2015 tour of the Americas. They said " we were so fortunate to receive the empowerment for the Co-emergent Kalachakra followed by teachings on the generation and completion stages based on the the sadana composed by Rigdzin Chökyi Drakpa".
The devotees of Karmapa Sha Mar-Nag in NYC feel immensely happy and humbled by His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche’s visit to the shrine hall in Manhattan NY on July 30th, which coincidentally marked the eve of the 1st cremation anniversary of Gyalwa Shamarpa’s Kudung in Kathmandu, Nepal.
This auspicious program started with a Mandala offering puja, followed by a beautiful teaching by His Holiness on the importance of developing loving-kindness and compassion.

July 24 marked a historic event “Heart of Compassion”, sponsored by Sunray Meditaion Society and Vajra Dakini Nunnery in Lincoln Vermont. The event unites Spiritual teachers of the Tibetan and Native American tradition.
HH Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang opened the dialogue with a recognition of the union of all peoples as relatives finding connections of the Tibetan Wolf Clan to that of the Native Elder of the wolf clan of her nation.
