The Drikung Kagyu Order was founded in 1179 by Kyobpa Jigten Sumgön. It is headed by the two Kyabgon Rinpoches, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chungtsang. While Chungtsang Rinpoche resides in Lhasa, Chetsang Rinpoche has established the Drikung Kagyu seat in exile in Dehra Dun, in the northeast of India.
Ms. Adelyn, Dr. Chuang and the event team from Malaysia had arrived to Jangchubling, Dehra Dun, on the afternoon of the 22nd April and immediately conducted a briefing on The Great Shravasti – Buddhist Cultural Assembly 2015 event together for the Working Committee members under the supervision of His Holiness The Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. The meeting had introduced the set-up of the event and the execution procedures.
His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang gave a teachings on the Six Syllables of Arya Awaloketshwara, the Lord of Compassion on 12th March 2015 at Jokhang, Leh, Ladakh.
Holiness ascribed that the syllable Om has a meaning for virtuous and auspicious, and more over the word Om has three syllables Ah, Ou and Ma, which is the essence of Thousand Buddhas of past, present and future.
His Holiness has inaugurated the Ice Stupa which was successfully accomplished on 5th march with a wonderful celebration with the people at Phayang village, Leh Ladakh. His Holiness was joined by the official dignitaries of Leh, and people from other parts of Ladakh. The inauguration was celebrated with cultural dance and singing performances from different parts of Ladakh.

As every year, the Drikung Winter Teachings took place at Jangchubling Monastery, Dehra Dun.
On the first day, His Holiness the Gyalwa Drikungpa gave a most interesting talk on “Buddhism and Culture”, quoting from Tibetan history, and from his recently re-edited magnum opus, “A History of the Tibetan Empire”. As usual he illustrated his sound practical advice with up-to-date, relevant examples from everyday life.

We would like to share some news from Kagyu College as usual. During the summer vacation many of our students and staff members attended the Kalachakra empowerment and teachings which was conferred by His Holiness the 14th Dalia Lama at Ladakh. Also many students went to other Institutes to learn their philosophical views, which was organized and financially supported by Khenpo Konchok Choskyab.

We are happy to announce that His Holiness the 37th Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang has accepted the invitation from H.E. Nyidzong Trichen Rinpoche to give the first Drikung Phowa Chenmo in Switzerland on 19th April 2015. All Dharma friends and followers are most welcome.
For the second year Ani Tsekyi and Ani Chokyi attended computer classes for about six weeks in Dharamsala and it is wonderful that they are now teaching six other nuns computer application at the Nunnery. They have also started work on a Drikung Kagyu Samtenling Nunnery publication to be published annually. This publication will have articles and poetries by the nuns. Ani Sonam also went to Dharamsala for about six weeks to undertake English language courses. We thank Khenmo Drolma of Vajra Dakini Nunnery, USA for sponsoring these nuns for their stay and studies in Dharamsala this summer.
Following the invitation by most Ven. Bumang Rinpoche and his center, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang visited Taipei, Taiwan for a 10 day program. On December 24th, 2014, His Holiness accompanied by most Ven. Rigyal Rinpoche and Drupon Konchok Tenzin, was welcomed at the airport by most Ven. Bumang Rinpoche, most Ven. Singe Rinpoche, most Ven. Namkha Rinpoche, most Ven. Chomphel Rinpoche, most Ven. Rabsang Rinpoche, lamas, teachers, and many center members, followers, and representatives of all the Drikung Kagyu centers in Taiwan who offered auspicious scarfs and flowers as a sign of joy and hearty welcome for His Holiness.
