 This year (the year 2144 of the Fire Bird according to the Tibetan Lunar calendar), we will be commemorating the 800th anniversary since Lord Jigten Sumgon entered Maha Parinirvana and 2560 years since Lord Buddha’s Maha Parinirvana.


Commemorating this 800th anniversary of Lord Jigten Sumgon’s Parinirvana is of utmost importance to the followers in order to firmly establish inspiration and strengthen faith in following the steps on the path of liberation.

The main commemoration anniversary of Lord Jigten Sumgon’s Body, Speech, Mind, Qualities and Activities will take place at Drikung Kagyu Institute, Jangchubling in Dehra Dun, India from 19th to 25th October 2017.

We welcome all Dharma friends and followers around the world to join this great commemoration.

HH Visits Bangladesh 2018

His Holiness on Pilgrimage in Bangladesh His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and entourages arrived Dhaka, Bangladesh on March 6, 2018. H.H. was received at the airport by the representatives of most Ven. Sanghanayaka Suddhananda Mahathero, President, Bangladesh Bouddha Kristi Prichard Sangha, and Chief Abbot Dharmarajika Buddhist Monastary, Prof. Dr. Bikiran Prasad Barua, joint Secretary General, BBKPS, Mr. Deva Priya Barua, joint Secretary General, BBKPS and some officials. On March 7, H.H. visited Sompur Maha- Vihara, also known as Paharpur in Naogan District which is about distance of 225 Kilometre from Dakha.

HH visits Shayok, Ladakh April 2018

IMG 5872 1His Holiness the 37th Gyalwang Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche arrived Shayok on 3rd April 2018 in the afternoon. The entire people of Lalok welcomed His Holiness, particularly the monks of Shachukul monastery and the people of Shayok gave a special welcome at the Shayok monastery. Shayok is a small village in Lalok, comprising of just 22 households located at an altitude of about 12,000 feet.

In the morning of 4th April His Holiness left for Shayok pharka with a group of villagers and inspected some sites for the development of greenery around the area. And during the inspection His Holiness appointed a villager, Mr. Tsering Mutup to lead the work to be done at the site. By one o’clock in afternoon His Holiness came back to Shayok Gonpa. The villagers then appointed two more people to help in turn to the work to be done with the JCB the next day onwards.

H.H. visits South America

hh south amirica twoHis Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang arrived Belo Horizonte, Brazil on Dec 14, 2017 as a part of his Dharma Tour 2017. Belo Horizonte is the 4th largest city in Brazil, which has the population of 5 millions people. At the airport H.H. was received with warm welcome by the members of the newly built first Drikung Kagyu centre in Brazil led by Ven. Ani Chimmi, Ven. Ani Tsultrim, Ven. Konchok Neyden and all the disciples of the center.

On Dec 15, at 10:30 am H.H. did consecration and opening ceremony ofthe new centre followed by auspicious prayers and Guru Yoga Puja. Ven. Ani Chimmi and members of the centre made a mandala offering to His Holiness for kindly coming and blessing the new centre.


H.H. attends Global Mountain Partnership Meeting, Italy.

Italy 2 His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang as an Ambassador for the Global Mountain Partnership arrived Rome, Italy for the high level Global Mountain Partnership meeting which was held from Dec 11 to 13, 2017. H.H. Was received with warm welcome by Ven. Paljin Tulku and his members of the Drikung Kagyu Mandala Center, in Milan and Mr. Giorgio Raspa president of ITALIAN BUDDHIST UNION in Italy. Later H.H. was interview by Ms. SIMONA SERRA radio officer, PIERO VERNI (journalist and writer ) for his on going Green Project and sustainable development all over the world. H.H. Was honored with the award of Italian Buddhist awards by Avv. Giorgio Raspa the president of U.B.I. for being as an inspiration for reviving the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, education, environment and sustainable development.

Delhi President 4On 27th November from 4:00-4:30pm , His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, H.H. Swami Chidanand Saraswati (President, Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh), along with many other religious leaders joined with His Excellency the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovindji at Rastrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, India. There H.H. and all have shared their experience and proceedings from the conference and commitment towards a Swachh, Sundar and Swaasth Bharat for all.

As invited by Hindu Dharma Achrya Sabha , H.H. attended the Interfaith Round Table talks where many religious leaders gathered at India Habitat Center in New Delhi. During the conference,  


Holiness gave speech on behalf of Buddhism and delivered a very meaningful speech about religious harmony; environment protections; and peace on earth. In the end,


The Commemoratio of 800th Maha Parinirvana of Lord Jigten Sumgon.

DSC06744The 800th Centenary Maha Parinirvan of the Lord Jigten Sumgon, the founder of Drikung Kagyu Lineage was commemorated from 19th to the 25th October, 2017 at Jangchubling Monastery, Dehradun, India. There were participants from 82 different countries; totaling 1,600 people and a total of about 10,000 persons attended the event which was joyful and awesome. 

The International Drikung Council Members did a wonderful job in organizing such a huge event after tirelessly working for one year ahead the event.

Global Initiative offers solution for 11 of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals to increase Peace,


His Holiness Visits Leh-Ladakh

H.H. the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang visits Leh, Ladakh for " Ladakh Organic Farmers Meet Sustainable Agriculture Development".
H.H. was received at Leh, Airport with warm welcome by the organisers on Sep 24, 2017 and was escorted to Phyang Monastery with the traditional welcoming procession.

On Sep 25th, 2017 as invited as chief guest H.H. offered valuable speech and direction to all the people gathered at the PoLo Ground in Leh, Ladakh on how to go for the natural and sustainable farming. There were many different organisers and many farmers who participated and devoted to cultivate natural and organic farming throughout Ladakh and the whole country.

His Holiness and entourage were received with warm welcome at the airport and escorted towards the guests house for rest.

During the conference His Holiness The Drikung Kyabgon Thinley Lhundup gave speech on environmental protection,world peace and harmony incorporating the spiritual beliefs and customs around the world.


H.H. visits Bhutan

H.H. in bhu 5His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and group of followers from Malaysia, Taiwan and Hongkong visited Bhutan on May 21st, 2017 after his Dharma Tour and Environmental Program in South East Asia. H.H. and entourage started hiking from Zhiwaling at 6:15 am and arrived Tiger Nest ( Paro Taktsang) at 10:30. am on May 22. H.H. was also joined by most Ven. Choeze Kuchen Rinpoche, most Ven. Jamyang Mipham Rinpoche, Dasho Tobyey Dorji and family, Mr. Richard Weingarten and Ms. Carol Weingarten, and some other disciples from Taiwan, Hongkong and Malaysia.
