Honoured to organise the 800th Commemoration of Lord Jigten Sumong's Maha Parinirvana.
This year (the year 2144 of the Fire Bird according to the Tibetan Lunar calendar), we will be commemorating the 800th anniversary since Lord Jigten Sumgon entered Maha Parinirvana and 2560 years since Lord Buddha’s Maha Parinirvana.
Commemorating this 800th anniversary of Lord Jigten Sumgon’s Parinirvana is of utmost importance to the followers in order to firmly establish inspiration and strengthen faith in following the steps on the path of liberation.
On March 25, under the leadership of the Go Green Go Organic organization, environmental organizations in Ladakh hosted the first Green Ladakh Day to answer the call of His Holiness Tinle Lhundup. Participating organizations included Go Green Go Organic, Ladakh Environment and Health Organization (LEHO), Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL), Defence Research & Development Organization (DIHAR), and NCF. The celebration took place at the Phyang Monastery. Villages of Phyang shared responsibilities in organizing this event. Phyang Monastery provided lunch for participants.
As invited by the Ministery of Culture, Govt. of India at Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, Nalanda (Bihar) for the International Conference on Buddhism in 21st Century, Perspectives and Responses to Global Challenges and Crisis, March 17th -19th 2017, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang visited for the conference on March 16th, 2017. There His Holiness had met up with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, H.H. Karmapa, H.E. Situ Rinpoche, scholars and experts from different religious background around the world. On the First Day, as a speaker for the Nalanda Conference, H.H. the Dalai Lama gave an opening speech and highlighted the importance and the needs of the Buddhas teachings for all in the 21st Century.
As invited by Wogmin Thupten Shedrupling Monastery HIs Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang arrived Tsopema, Rewalsar on March 6, 2017. On the way H.H. was received in grand traditional procession by H.E. Ontul Rinpoche and all the members of monastery, representatives from local Tibetan Administration, Religious communities from Bir, devotees from Ladakh, Kinnaur, Garsha and Lahul-Spiti all gathered with flowers and scarfs. There after the Mandala Offering was offered to His Holiness as a reception for kindly coming to Tsopema for blessings. On the 10th Day of Tibetan Calander, H.H. commemorated the 800 Years Maha-Parinirvan Day of the Lord Jigten Sumgon by conducting the grand Guru Yoga Puja and Thousands Offering (Bumtsok) with thousands of devotees around the world.
On March 26, 2017 His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and entourage left Phyang Monastery in the morning at 8:30 for Kukshok where the Ice Dripping Project is being carried out. Kukshok is one of the remote places near Lamayuru where Buddhist and Muslim communities live harmoniously side by side. The Sindhu river flows through the valley and lots of Walnut trees grow there. In the past people had to go there by horse but now there is a direct motorable road. H.H. has been there for five times.
During one of H.H.'s visits there in the past, he was informed by the people about the difficulties of water shortages and they requested him to find a solution for the problem.
H.H. came up with the idea of making Ice Stupas in the region. A survey was made at that site, but due to the lack of financial support the Ice Stupa project was delayed for two years.
As invited by Ven. Bikhu Sangasena, the founder of the Mahabodhi International Meditation Center, Leh-Ladakh, and Rev. Brahmarshi Patriji founder of Pyramid Meditation center, Andra Pradesh, India. HH arrived Vijayawada airport on Feb 15, 2017, at 8 am in the morning.
H.H.visited the Museum and then went to the ruins of old Buddhist sites. Thereafter HH visited the temple of Amravati, which was important place for the Kalachakra teaching and vajrayana Buddhism. It is said that the first kalachakra initiation and teaching were given here.
At the function H.H. gave the speech on the importance of Aana-Pana Sati Vippasana meditation and practices.There were people from different countries and there must be 20.000 people gathered for the function.
The Shravasti Retreat was organised at Drikung Kagyu Dorje Choezong, in Taipei, and also in India at Monastery in Dehradun, Uttrakhand and Bhumang Jampaling Monastery in Chountara, Himachal Pradesh. Shravasti Retreat was first introduce by His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang at the Garchen Milarepa Retreat centre in Taipei, under his kind direction and instruction, strict rules for dress code, food, and behaviours of the practitioners.
This meditation technique looks similar with the Acharya Goenka's Vippassana method, but it was based on a text which was extracted from the " Anapana Sati Sutra" taught by Lord Buddha in Shravasti.
The Commemoration of the Lord JIgten Sumgon's 800th Maha Parinirvana Celebration will be conducted from 19th-25th October, 2017 at Drikung Kagyu Institute, Jangchubling, Dehradun, India organised by International Drikung Kagyu Council.

His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon office sends many Tashi Delek and greetings on upon having successfully accomplished the first Shravasti Vipassana program on Feb 20, 2017 in New York, U.S.A. It was organised by the International Drikung Kagyu Association, North America, under the guidance of Retreat Master Konchok Tenzin. This meditation technique looks similar with the Acharya Goenka's Vippassana method, but it was based on a text which was extracted from the "Anapana Sati Sutra" taught by Lord Buddha in Shravasti, which includes Mahamudra, Zogchen, and Zen meditation and practice.

On 14th December 2016, as invited by the Lho Palmegon Center, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon arrived at the International Airport, Taipei.
H.H. was received with warm welcome with flowers and white scarfs in their hands as a auspicious sign. Drupon Sonam Nyima and the members of the Lho Palmegon Center, the Representative of Tibet in Taipei, Tibetan Association, and many resident Rinpoche, lamas and devotees from the Drikung Kagyu Centers in Taiwan were present. Thereafter H.H. went for rest at the Grand Hotel, Taipei.
On 17th Dec, in the morning H.H. offered the transmission of Drikung Phowa Chenmo and after lunch granted the Long Life Empowerment of Ma-Chik Drupi Gyalmo tradition. The teachings and foods were offered for free to all devotees.
His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang arrived Rinchenling Monastery, Kathmandu on December 8, 2016. His Holiness was received by H.E. Thritsab Rinpoche, Most Ven. Nubpa Rinpoche, Most Ven. Khenchen Konchok Gyaltsen Rinpoche, most Ven. Drupon Sonam Jorphel Rinpoche and all the Drikung community from Lapchi, Limi, Sherpas and devotees from other countries. The mandala offering was made for auspicious welcoming, and at the rooftop the special tea and sweet rice were served for all.
As invited by most Ven. Drupon Sonam Jorphel Rinpoche on December 9, His Holiness and entourage visited Drikung Rinchenpalri Monastery, on top of the beautiful mountain valley of Kathmandu facing the Shambhunath Stupa.
The 2nd Permaculture Design Workshop was organized by the Songtsen Library patronised by International Nature Restoration Action Association (INRAA) held at Dehradun, India from 28th Nov to 12th Dec 2016. The INRAA founded by His Holiness in year 2016.
Environmentalists working at the front line in the Himalayan regions were participated in this training.
Design methods, sector analysis, zones observation and mapping are the topics of the second day of the 2nd Permaculture Design Workshop.
During the teaching on sector analysis, participants from Bhutan, Ladakh and other Himalayan regions were asked to draw a map of a place that they know.
