 This year (the year 2144 of the Fire Bird according to the Tibetan Lunar calendar), we will be commemorating the 800th anniversary since Lord Jigten Sumgon entered Maha Parinirvana and 2560 years since Lord Buddha’s Maha Parinirvana.


Commemorating this 800th anniversary of Lord Jigten Sumgon’s Parinirvana is of utmost importance to the followers in order to firmly establish inspiration and strengthen faith in following the steps on the path of liberation.

The main commemoration anniversary of Lord Jigten Sumgon’s Body, Speech, Mind, Qualities and Activities will take place at Drikung Kagyu Institute, Jangchubling in Dehra Dun, India from 19th to 25th October 2017.

We welcome all Dharma friends and followers around the world to join this great commemoration.

Great Shravasti Opening Ceremony

His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and organising committee of the Great Shravasti Center wound like to announce for the Opening Ceremony of the Great Shravasti Center which is going to be held on October 31, 2018 in Shravasti, U.P. India. The Great Shravasti Center was established under the kind direction of His Holiness with a unique plan to creat a non-sectarian place to study and practice Buddha Dharma. After the function there would be Dharma Talk as well as culture shows from different Himalayan regions from Ladakh, Nepal, Bhutan and Sikkim.

 Under the kind direction of H.H. The Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, the monks and nuns of Drikung Kagyu Institute, Samtenling Nunnery, Kagyu College and Songtsen Library joined for the plantation program along the banks of the Rispana River with Honble Chief Minister  Trivendra Singh Rawat ji &  Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji - Muniji, as well as our interfaith family to plant the trees of harmony for oneness on July 22, 2018 at 9:30-11am, Mothrowala, Dehradun (Near Sewage Treatment Plant).

The CM of Uttarakhand Shri. Trivandra Singh Ravat, Development Minister Shri. Satyapal Singh and religious leaders from all the traditions were also present.

Conference in CIBS Leh, Ladakh 2018

H.H Attends Buddha Jayanti in New Delhi

His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang joined the celebration of Buddha Jayanti in New Delhi at Indira Gandhi Stadium organised by the Misnister of Culture and International Buddhist Confederation. The program started with the ceremonial procession of many great Rinpocheys and Eminences form Tibetan tradition, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and so on inviting the Buddha Relics towards the main hall for the function. There were followed by the performance form Tibetan Institute of Art in Daramsala and students from Bhutan. H.H and all the Eminences offered the scarf and welocme Shri Nerendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India.Shri,

And this time the 2 nd Green Ladakh Festival was also celebrated alongside the 6 th phase of Go green Go organic. The mass plantation was participated by the people from Chushul to Shayok of Durbuk block. And it started by 8 o’clock in the morning until 11:30 am. They planted local trees, local plant called Womboo and seabuck thorn in large number. Soon after when the guests from various parts of the world arrived a short programme of about an hour was carried out under the chairmanship of


His Holiness Visits Shayog Leh, Ladakh

IMG 5872 1His Holiness the 37 th Gyalwang Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche arrived Shayok on 3 rd April 2018 in the afternoon. The entire people of Lalok welcomed His Holiness, particularly the monks of Shachukul monastery and the people of Shayok gave a special welcome at the Shayok monastery. Shayok is a small village in Lalok, comprising of just 22 households located at an altitude of about 12,000 feet. In the morning of 4 th April His Holiness left for Shayok pharka with a group of villagers and inspected some sites for the development of greenery around the area. And during the inspection His Holiness appointed a villager, Mr. Tsering Mutup to lead the work to be done at the site.


His Holiness Visits Daramshala 2018

IMG 5122Invited by Nuns Remey Tenshug Executive Committee, H.H. the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang as a representative of the Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism offered the Grand Long Life Ceremonial Prayers for HH the 14th Dalai Lama in Dharamshala, H.P. India. The ceremonial prayer was organised by the Nuns Remey Tenshug Executive Committee, for the purpose of longevity and good health of H.H. the Dalai Lama, and happiness for all sentient beings and peace on earth.The grand traditional Long Life Ceremony was done very extensively and was offered with aspirational prayers to His Holiness the Dalai Lama led by H.H. the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang on behalf of Kagyupa Lineage, thereafter successfully line up by the Representative of Nyingmapa Lineage, Representative of Sakya Lineage, Representative of Gelug Lineage and Representative of Bon Lineage.

His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang visited Tsuklakhang the Royal Chaphel of the Sikkim. At the main gate H.H. was received with warm welcome by Royal Princess Hope Lezum Namgyal, Kunog Tsetob Ragasha and monks of the Monastery. After viewing the valuable old paintings of the Tsuklakhang, H.H. said before the painting were in poor condition and now because of the renovation it looks wonderful. H.H. rejoiced and thanked Priencess Hope Lezum Namgyal and her team members for restoring and renovating the paintings of the Tsuklakhang. HH and entourages were offered tea refreshments and had group photos with the lamas.
