Honoured to organise the 800th Commemoration of Lord Jigten Sumong's Maha Parinirvana.
As invited by the Drigar Thupten Dargye Ling Centre in Singapore, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang arrived Changi Airport, on June 29, 2016 at 7 am in the morning. H.H. and entourages were received with warm welcome by H.E. Grachen Rinpoche, Dorzin Konchok Dondup, the members of the Drikung Kagyu Centers and all the followers of the Drikung Kagyu lineage in Singapore. Thereafter H.H. was invited to the Marina Bay Sands for the welcoming tea session and rest. In the evening His Holiness blessed the great empowerment of the Buddha Amitabha to all the people and began the 6th 100 Million Amidewa Retreat at the Marina Bay Sands. H.H. said that with this empowerment we were linked with the Buddha Amitabha and we will have a possibility of having born in the Pure Land in the near future.
There were around three thousands people presented at the retreat hall and around 92,000 people participated through the online live-streaming services throughout the world.
On second day, H.E. Garchen Rinpoche gave the refuge for many interested disciples in the morning, and in the evening everyone celebrated the 80th Birthday of H.E. Garchen Rinpoche with much love and joy. At the celebration, the committee of Drigar Thubten Dargye Ling and Mahasiddha Garchen Teachings Preservation Project made mandala offering to H.E. Garchen Rinpoche.
Thereafter, His Holiness delivered a light on the wonderful life story of H.E. Garchen Rinpoche, and also how important is his life to the Drikung Kagyu lineage and sentient beings in general. As a sign of joy and appreciation for H.E. Garchen Rinpoche's tireless, life time efforts and contributions for peace and happiness for all beings, His Holiness presented a Dharma Wheel as a gift to His Eminence and wished him a very healthy and long life so that he can continue turning the wheel of Dharma and benefit countless beings for eons and eons. Sangha members also presented khatags to Garchen Rinpoche, and extended joyful birthday wishes. Finally, His Holiness and Garchen Rinpoche cut the cake and shared with all the people presented there for the birthday celebration.
On the third special day, H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang bestowed the Bodhisattva Vows. People were happy to have this rare opportunity to receive a precious vow from His Holiness, After the Bodisattva's vow H.E. Garchen Rinpoche led students from 20 countries and different Drikung centres world wide to make mandala offering to H.H. Drikung Kyabgon. There were disciples from Malaysia,Indonesia, Russia, Singapore, Nepal, India, Vietnam, China, Taiwan, America, Mongolia, Australia, Canada, Japan, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Tibet, and Drikung centres in Singapore, etc. In the late afternoon, the robes offering session was conducted for the sanghas, along with the offering of auspicious hat of the Glorious Drikung Kagyu tradition. After lunch atthe Amitabha Chang Chog Puja was conducted, and at the Great Drikung Phowa Transmission was transfered by His Holiness for the first time in Singapore. Traditionally, H.H. the Drikung Kyabgon will bestow the Great Drikung Phowa teachings (Drikung Phowa Chenmo) only once in every 12 years, during the auspicious Monkey year. Phowa practice is a swift way to help practitioners to transfer their consciousness to Buddha Amitabha's Pureland at the moment of death. This is a rare and auspicious opportunity for everyone in Singapore to receive from H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. Finally, after the lamp offering prayers in the evening, His Holiness also shared a valuable words about taking care of our enviroment, and emphasised that everything is interdependent, and we are dependent on each other.
The retreat was successfully completed as retreatants and online participants accumulated more than 200 million Ami Dewa mantras. His Holiness rejoice in everyone merits for completing this retreat, and share the merits of these mantras and dedication for peace and happiness for all sentient beings.
H.E. Garchen Rinpoche also reminded everyone in his speech to protect one's compassion, and hopes every one can share their kindness to their parents, teachers, country. H.E. emphasised that we should have gratitude and compassion towards our parents, teachers and country, using this altruistic mind to uplift all sentient beings towards happiness and libration.
The organiser of the Amidewa Retreat, Drigar Thubten Dargye Ling centre sincerely thank His Holiness for coming to Singapore and blessings the retreat with great compassion. They also thank to H.E. Garchen Rinpoche for coming to Singapore every year to lead the 100 Million Ami Dewa Retreat, and bringing the sublime Dharma here. May all the Gurus and Spiritual guides have long life, good health and keep turning the wheel of Dharma.
