His Holiness at the Journey of Mani Event in Malaysia

His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang was invited by Mrs. Adelyn Lim, the Director of Creativision, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to take part in the 12th Journey of Mani Event in Malaysia on April 29, 2012. This Mani Event was first held in the year 2000 with Most Venerable Drubwang Rinpoche, organized by Mrs. Adelyn Lim and the group Rainbow of Life Force. Up until now Mrs. Lim has been tirelessly working and organizing the yearly Mani Event, inviting Rinpoches and Lamas from the Drikung Kagyu Lineage. This time representatives from three traditions of Buddhism, Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana were invited to join together at the Mani Event.

On April 29, the event was opened by lighting up a lamp offering as the symbol of wisdom by three chief guests, H.H. the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang from the Drikung Kagyu Lineage, Ven. Ming Je, the vice president of the Malaysian Buddhist Association, and Ven. Ratana Kirende Dharmata Thero of the Ti-Ratana Welfare Society of Malaysia. After the lamp offering His Holiness offered presents to Ven. Ming Je, Ven. Ratana, and Mrs. Lim and joined with orphan children for a vegetarian lunch. During lunch time His Holiness also offered gifts to all the orphan children. The children performed some dances and everybody present enjoyed the performances.

The official program started with Dharma teaching and chanting of Mahayana Sutras by Ven. Ming Je and monks from the Mahayana Society, which lasted until 7:30 pm.

From 7:30 to 8:30 pm followed the Dharma teaching and chanting of Sutras by Ven. Ratana and monks from Ti-Ratna Theravada tradition.

At 9:00 pm His Holiness along with most Ven. Rabsang Rinpoche, most Ven. Choeze Kuchen Rinpoche, most Ven. Minam Rinpoche and lamas from the Drikung Kagyu Lineage performed the Mani Sadhana Puja. Meanwhile, His Holiness gave teachings and an initiation as well as an introduction to the meaning of the Mani-Mantra. The Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang said that all problems come from clinging to the ego, and looking down upon others. This creates problems among families and friends and in society society at large. Therefore we need to cultivate loving kindness and compassion towards all sentient beings, which is the source of peace and happiness. The Mani-Mantra is the essence of love and compassion. His Holiness said, in order to solve the problem, we need to start from our heart, we need to bring to bloom our loving kindness and compassion in our heart, and then extend it to our family, slowly to the society, and very slowly even further to the whole world. He emphasized creating positive energy in society and said that like the sun our hearts have infinite power to radiate positive energy to the whole world. In the end His Holiness dedicated the virtue of the event to all sentient beings, and he concluded by wishing that peace and happiness may always prevail in this world.

At 10:00 pm, Mrs. Adelyn Lim distributed the fund they raised during the event evenly to the three beneficiaries, the Malaysian Buddhist Association, Ti-Ratana Welfare Society, and Drikung Kagyu Institute.
