Dear Dharma brothers and sisters, Tashi Delek to you all. We would like to share some news updates from Kagyu College and hope every one of you will enjoy reading this.
As per the Vinaya rules, we did summer retreat for 45 days and after the summer retreat all the monks and nuns presented their Dharma speeches on different topics, read out their poems and had group debate by all the classes. As usual, ten students from Kagyu College upper class 8th and 9th gave the monks and nuns marks and selected first, second and third positions among them.
Those selected as first positions for Dharma speech, poem and group debate will have the opportunity to present their work in front of His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang during the annual event of Kagyu College. After the summer retreat we had a few days holiday including a very nice summer picnic, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the staff and students.
This year, five students graduated from Kagyu College and as per request from various institutions, the board members of Drikung Kagyu Institute appointed as following: Lobpon Tulku Konchok Nyingje appointed as a teacher at Drkung Kagyu Samtenling Nunnery, Lobpon Konchok Zangpo appointed as a teacher at Kagyu College, Lobpon Ngawang Gyurme appointed as a teacher at Drikung Kagyu Wogmin Thupten Shedupling Tsopema, Lobpon Namdak Dorje appointed as a teacher at Drikung Kagyu Rinchenling monastery in Nepal. Lobpon Konchok Thundup appointed as staff at Kagyu College.
All of us Khenpos and teachers at Kagyu College are very proud of working here, as a result every year our graduated students have been benefiting Buddha Dharma. This year we admitted around fifteen new students who came from Jangchubling monastery and various other locations.
We are very happy to share another piece of very good news; we invited H.E. Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoche at Kagyu College to share his marvelous knowledge. Rinpoche is one of the most knowledgeable Rinpoches in Drikung Kagyu lineage and we are very fortunate and thankful to him as he graciously accepted our invitation even though his schedules are fully occupied. Rinpoche’s teachings started in the main temple of Kagyu College on the 19th September, on the full moon day, which was very auspicious. For the good interdependency and traditional way, the teachings started with the offering of tea, sweet rice and offering Mandala
by the principal of Kagyu College Khenpo Rangdol. Many Rinpoches, Khenpos, Drupons, monks and nuns of Drikung Kagyu Institute and its branches are attending Rinpoche's marvelous Dharma teachings. Every day Rinpoche teaches for one and half hours on the commentary of Chakrasamvara which was composed by Rinpoche himself and every day those attending have the opportunity to ask their questions and Rinpoche answers them very clearly.
Rinpoche knows the history of Tibet very well. Therefore we are very fortunate that Rinpoche also teaches us History three days a week in the afternoon. The teaching programs of H.E. Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoche will be completed within a one and half months.
Our new editing committee have been working very hard and they have already published a book which includes all the articles of the First International Gongchik seminar, which was held in 1997 at Drikung Kagyu Institute. Our monthly programmes, such as seminars and big gathering debates, are going on continuously.
Last but not least, on behalf of our staff and students, we would like to extend our sincere prayers and greetings to all the Dharma friends and particularly to our sponsors.
With lots of prayers,
Managing Committee of Kagyu College
