His Holiness 70th Birthday Celebration

no1The 1st Sermon Day of Lord Buddha and the 70th Birthday Anniversary of His Holiness the 37th Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche was celebrated at Jangchubling monastery, Dehradun.

On this auspicious day the Lord Buddha turned the Wheel of Dharma on the Four Noble Truth at Sarnath, Varanasi and it was also the birth anniversary of His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. At 6 am the monks and nuns of Jangchubling monastery, Samtenling Nunner and Kagyu College all gathered at the main temple with grand reception for HH protriat with traditional ceremonies and devotees standing in line.

 

An extensive guru yoga puja was performed by all the sangha members. Mandala offering were made to His Holiness’s headed by H.E. Gyabra Thritsab Rinpoche. Followed by mandala offering from the sangha members and other dignitaries on the auspicious occasion, the general public offered khatak to His Holiness’s portrait and wish for long life.

Later, sangha members formed sang puja and hoisted the giant dharma flag at the lower park of the monastery campus dedicating long life for His Holiness, dispersing his obstacles on the path to persue for peace and happiness in world.

At 10:00 in the morning,  people gathered at the lower park of the monastery campus, birthday cake was distributed to the public followed by the games and entertainment performed by little monks of the jangchubling monastery.

Afternoon 3:00pm, the final annual football tournament was played in honor of His Holiness birth anniversary. There were 16 teams participated from the Tibetan settlements and schools in Dehradun.The tournament started on 14th July and concluded on 20th July. The final match was played between Dekyi Ling sports club and Dhundup Ling youngster Club from (Clement Town),  Dekyi Ling sports club won by 1-0  in the Birthday Cup trophy.no5
