His Holiness The Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang with accompanying khenpos and lamas have completed a meaningful visit to Vietnam from 26 August to 7 September 2015, in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city . They are warmly welcomed by many Vietnamese Buddhist devotees and the Drikung Kagyu lineage’s followers.
His Holiness and the lamas had a busy and fruitful schedule with various Buddhism’s dharma teachings and visits in different pagodas in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city.
The main dharma teaching topics include: Mahayana and the union of three Vehicles, Amitabha empowerment and Phowa teaching, practice of confession via 1000 armed Chenrezig etc.
His Holiness also gave the oral transmission and brief introduction of Gong Chik – the essence of the Drikung Kagyu linage’s instruction composed by Lord Jigten Sumgon – for the followers of the Drikung Kagyu linage in the both cities. At “Bình Dương Tây Tạng” pagoda (Binh Duong’s Tibetan pagoda), Holiness shared stories of his family about when he was born and grew up. He then kindly gave teachings on the nature of the mind to the monks and nuns there.
His Holiness also gave refuge to hundreds of people at Sủi pagoda in Hanoi. Lamp offering for world peace and animal life liberation are also included in intensive program of His Holiness and the sangha.
Moreover, on 3rd September His Holiness had a meaningful meeting with the United Nation’s office in Hanoi to discuss about the environmental issues. Being formally appointed as a United Nations Mountain Partnership Ambassador, His Holiness expresses his keen wishes to help improve the environment as well as lives of the poors in mountainous areas of Vietnam.
