Honoured to organise the 800th Commemoration of Lord Jigten Sumong's Maha Parinirvana.
As invited by His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa Ugyen Thinley Dorje, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang visited Bodhgaya on Feb 13, 2016 as a Chief Guest for the commemoration of the life and enlightened activity of the Sixteenth Gyalwang Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje. His Holiness and entourage arrived Bodhgaya by flight on Feb 13, and was received with warm welcome by His Holiness the Gyalwag Karmapa, H.E. Gyaltsab Rinpoche, H.E. Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche, H.E. Zurmang Garwang Rinpoche, H.E.Terton Yongey Rinpoches and thousands of lamas and distinguished guests holding scarfs and flowers, with all the ceremonial procession of banners, incenses, victorious waving flags, drums and cymbals, and leaded towards the main temple.
There HH had tea and light moments with His Holiness the Gyalwa Karmapa, H.E. Ontrul Rinpoche, H.E. Gyaltsab Rinpoche, H.E. Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche, H.E. Zurmang Garwang Rinpoche, H.E.Terton Yongey Rinpoches, and after that take rest at the Mahayana Hotel.
On Feb 14, 2016 the morning program started at 9.30 am, as chief guest H.H. the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang was escorted on to the stage by His Holiness the Gyalwag Karmapa. H.H. offered a Khatags to the statue of the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa as a reverence and memory. There H.E. Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche and H.E. Gyaltsab Rinpoche greeted His Holiness on the stage, and H.H. the Gyalwang Karmapa showed him the seat of honour.
Immediately, the function began with the offering of ceremonial Tibetan tea and sweet rice. The nuns from the Drupde Palmo Chokyi Dingkhang Nunnery in Bhutan chanted "The Praise to the Three Jewels, followed by a welcoming speech by Mr. Karma Chungyalpa, General Secretary of the Karmapa's Office of Administration. There after Mr. Karma read out a letter from Dr. Pawan Chamling, the Honorable Chief Minister of Sikkim.
His Holiness as a chief guest gave a speech followed after the unveiling of a new printing of the Jang Kangyur, the Collected Works of Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje by H.E. Gyaltsab Rinpoche, and a pictorial biography of the 16th Karmapa titled Dharma King by H.E. Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche, The Life of the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa in Images. In his speech, H.H. spoke briefly of his meetings with the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa in India and received teachings from him, and Gyalwang Karmapa's great kindness towards him. H.H. added that we are now in 21st century, the age of information and technology, and we felt that even if we live in a small village it is like as if everybody in the world has become your neighbourhood. It is very important to support each other, and co-operation between all our schools of Tibetan Buddhism and all other religious traditions. H.H. concluded his speech by aspiring his wishes that all religious traditions work together harmoniously, and may the aspiration of the 16th Karmapa be flourished and fulfilled.
In the end Mr. Karma give the vote of thanks on behalf of everyone present. He expressed his gratitude particularly to His Holiness for coming and blessing his speech and illustrious presence, even though His Holiness is having busy schedule. Thereaftere H.H. and entourages flew back to Delhi.
