Gyalwa Drikungpa visits Vietnam Part I

His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and entourage arrived Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam on 25/12/2018. H. H. and entourage were received with a warm welcome at the airport and then taken to the Rex Hotel in Saigon for rest. Most Ven. Khenzur Konchog Gyaltsen Rinpoche, H.E. Lochen Rinpoche, many rinpoches, Drupons and lamas were also there for the reception.

A welcoming dinner was served at the rooftop restaurant of the hotel at 7:30 pm with a wonderful concert of classical Vietnamese music. On Dec 27, His Holiness gave teaching on how to generate the heart of Bodhichitta and cultivate the forgiveness. 

H.H. Said that “the most difficult thing in life is to practice patience and forgiveness, and the most unwholesome things are



anger and hatred. This is because the anger and hate will destroy the whole virtues action which has been accumulated for thousand of years in a single instant. We all need to pay much attention to practice patience and forgiveness, and share the positive energy of love and compassion with our families, with society and extent to the whole world.”

His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon visited the Buddhist University in Ho Chi Min City on Dec 31, 2018. HH and entourage were received at the main gate by the President and the members of the Buddhist Congregation of Vietnam. HH gave a brief talk about the collaboration and cooperation amongst the Buddhist religious institutions around the world and need to work for world peace and harmony.IMG 6507 2

The first ever Shravasti Retreat program was held under the blessed guidance of H.H. The Drikung Kyabgon at Phuoc Son Meditation in Dong Nai, Vietnam. The program includes: Bodhichitta, generating the mind according to Mahayana, practising the 9- round purifying breathing and vase-breathing according to the Vajrayana, calm abiding Meditation according to the breathing-mindfulness (Anapanna Sati Sutra) based of Theravada tradition,and finally dedicated for all beings to get enlightenment. There were fifty people attending the retreat program. Many thanks go to the organiser and also to the Retreat Institute Temple.IMG 8413 2

A further invitation came from the Garchen Center, Drikung Arya Tara in Vung Tau, Vietnam, His Holiness and entourage visited there on January 6th, 2019. The next day at Chua Van Phuoc (Nunnery) H.H. gave teachings on “The great aspiration of Avalokiteshvara to save sentient beings from the ocean of suffering. H.H. was joined by all the Mahayana Shanghas of Vung Tau, City and they shared a special lunch together at the Nunnery. In the evening, H.H. gracefully bestowed the empowerment of the “Thousand Arms Avalokiteshvara. At the end the organiser of the Dharma program in Vung Tau city and Nuns of the Temple made a special Mandala offering according to their own Mahayana tradition as a token of thanks. This was followed by blessings for all the people. The nuns offered H.H. the fine statue of Bodhi-Dharma, and H.H. offered in return the Thanka of Buddhas as a gift to the Nuns.

Khenzur Konchok Gyaltsen Rinpoche gave teachings on “How to apply the understanding of interdependent origination in everyday life, and in the evening most Ven. Drupon Samten Rinpoche gave teachings on the “Song of Wisdom and Courage” by Lord Jigten Sumgon and how to face suffering and sickness in our lives.
